The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation offers pathways for individuals and groups to join us in our commitment to service.
Service was a cornerstone of Jamie's life and has continued to be a central program for the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation believes in the adage that "service is the rent we pay for living" and, like Jamie, we hope to inspire others to join us in our commitment to service. When individuals take ownership of their community through service, everyone wins and our communities will be stronger for it.
The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation selects service locations that volunteers are able to return to frequently in hopes of building connections and understanding between volunteers and the community members, and also, to provide reliable support to our partners. In 2017, we partnered with 17 unique nonprofits at 19 different sites.
Our first partner was the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Camden Street Learning Garden.
Our second partner is Burkett Farm, located in Raleigh, NC, with the mission to bring together people from all walks of life around the importance of agriculture, farming, and fresh food.
We also partner with various organizations on their service needs throughout the year working to tackle our focus issues-food insecurity, food access, education disparity, and poverty. Each year, as part of the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation's Weekend of Purpose, we host a triangle-wide Day of Service bringing together over 150 volunteers across multiple service sites. Past partners have included Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, SEEDS, the Jordan Child & Family Enrichment Center, and more. See our 2017 Day of Service webpage for additional examples.
