Gizem Templeton, PhD

2017 Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation Senior Fellow

gizem's impact

Gizem works in collaboration with three project partners that are working towards the same goal: making local fresh food more accessible to local child care centers. Her project partners are Wake County Smart Start Farm to Child Care program, Center of Environmental Farming Systems Farm to Early Care and Education Initiative and Child and Adult Care Food Program Farm to Preschool Network. In addition to giving support to these programs, she gathers resources for a portal that will be utilized by people planning to start farm to child care activities.

As the first 6-month fellow, Gizem worked alongside the JKHF staff to lead the early education team in summer 2017 in the first 3 months of her fellowship.

because of JKHF

Thanks to the partnerships JKHF provides, Gizem is able to work on projects that she’s passionate about: food justice and food systems. Meeting with policy makers and working alongside of groundwork doers, she has established a faith that better food systems is within our reach.
