2017 Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation Fellow
Daijah developed an Event Planning and Outreach Toolkit for Transition to Kindergarten to help Durham Public Schools take on events currently run by the Durham Partnership for Children during her 2017 Fellowship. She also created a Durham Childcare Facilities Database which lists child care facilities by zip code so that Durham Public Schools can partner with nearby facilities on Transition to Kindergarten initiatives.
After the Fellowship ended, Daijah hosted a Transition to Kindergarten event, “Popsicles on the Playground” at local elementary school in partnership with Durham Public Schools for 100+ kids, parents, and teachers.
because of JKHF
Through the JKHF Fellowship Program, Daijah gained mentors that connected her with organizations working on Maternal and Child Health issues in the Triangle.
Connecting with a variety of people doing this work helped Daijah to narrow down her wide scope of interest within MCH and solidify a topic for her Master's Thesis, along with learning about ways that she can plug into this work upon graduation.
