Director of programs

The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation is a start-up nonprofit organization working to scale its impact and programs in 2017-2018. The Director of Programs, working alongside staff and an engaged board, will help build out core JKHF programs in a creative and innovative space.
The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation seeks a Director of Programs with strong program management, facilitation, communication, critical analysis, and partnership development skills. The Director of Programs should utilize his/her creativity to lead and co-develop JKHF programs alongside the Executive Director including its fellowship program, convening series Gathering for Good, and service initiatives. In addition, this position will support other JKHF programs and projects as they emerge.
The Director of Programs will help the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation scale its core programming and develop avenues for expansion. This position requires comfort in working with diverse communities, alongside emerging leaders and community activists, and to support high-level donors and decision-makers. Job will require a range of activities including high-level critical analysis and management of logistics and events. The Director of Programs must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with team members to achieve all goals of the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation.
Primary Responsibilities and Expectations
Programs Management: The Director of Programs will be involved in all stages of program work, including developing and implementing strategies, developing project timelines, working with partners including other nonprofits, universities, government officials, and funders, working to plan, coordinate, and manage program-related events, working to support metric development and data capture, coordinating program partner meetings, and achieving progress on multiple tasks and timelines. The Director of Programs will assist with internal budgets, track program progress and successes, and when necessary assist with grant reporting.
Facilitation: The Director of Programs will participate in meeting design, facilitation and training activities both for Gathering for Good and the Fellowship program and will help organize meetings and trainings for planning teams and Fellows cohort. Should be familiar with design thinking techniques and strategies.
Communication: The Director of Programs will work to craft program-based communications content to support communications calendar. Director of Programs should understand and implement design strategies to all aspects of his/her work. Additionally, Director of Programs will communicate often with team and board on program progress.
Critical Analysis: The Director of Programs should have a working knowledge of core JKHF issues and be able to provide critical analysis of convening data for external reporting.
Partner Relationship Development: The Director of Programs will also help support the cultivation of strong local partnerships with nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and universities and community colleges to support JKHF programming and strategic priorities. He/she will also work with community partners to assist in the implementation of programs and initiatives.
Goal Setting: The director of programs is expected to model strategic goal setting behavior and goal achievement. This person will also help members of the staff and Fellowship do the same.
This position will be based at JKHF offices in Raleigh, North Carolina. Travel across the Triangle and Eastern North Carolina may be necessary. The Director of Programs should have at a minimum a BA or BS degree. The position will report to the Executive Director.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including ability to write in a variety of formats (proposals, formal and informal communications, program analysis and reports).
- Two+ years work experience, preferably in a related field.
- Cross disciplinary thinking and adept problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, requiring minimal hands-on management.
- Highly organized, with attention to detail.
